Birthing balls - hard or soft?

I just bought an exercise ball yesterday and pumped it up last night, but it feels quite soft. I can definitely sit upright on it but I sort of sink down a bit. Intuitively, I suspect it should feel firmer and more supportive but would really appreciate a bit of guidance. It may be that I just need to pump it up more, or perhaps it's just a bit rubbish (only cost 10). Can anyone advise? Thanks in advance ladies Smile

It should be not pumped up all the way, so it squishes a little and is more stable and easier to control. (I read this in the book Birth Rocks). Not too soft of course you need to feel your hips are at a comfy angle. Knees a little below your hips is usually good.

Thanks jmojo that's all really helpful to know! Reading your response I'm realising I know absolutely nothing about birthing balls - don't even know what I'm going to do with it when time comes - so I suppose I'd better do some reading too. Thanks again!
