Hello ladies :)
I am currently 19+4 with our first baby and new to mumsnet ..
Now is the time I am planning antenatal classes for later on and am considering pregnancy yoga.
I have never done yoga before but have heard pregnancy yoga classes are very beneficial to pregnancy/labour and childbirth ... This appeals to me because I wish for it to be the most positive experience I can make it and am a little nervous about it (quite normal I'm sure)
Just wondering if anybody has, or knows of anybody who has done these sort of classes and if so did they benefit you for labour and childbirth?

Thankyou in advance :)

If being fitter makes it easier for labour and childbirth then yes.

I do antenatal exercises because it keeps me fit. And it helps post natal recovery hugely.

I did pregnancy yoga in my first pregnancy, which was great for breathing exercises and relaxation.
This time I did pregnancy pilates, which really helped me strengthen my core muscles and pelvic floor in order to support my pelvis, and I managed my SPD better as a result. I also had a super fast delivery this time, which may or may not have been related!

I also had no separation of my stomach muscles (Diastasis recti) at 4 weeks post-partum, which I believe was also due to the pilates.

I did Tara Lee's pregnancy yoga DVD during my 2nd pregnancy - I felt a lot better than during my first pregnancy and recovered a lot quicker afterwards, a lot less aches and pains. Also recommend her post-natal one!

I did Tara Lee too! And Erin O'Brien. The latter has a postnatal dvd which is great too.
