Hello im just looking for some information i have just found out im pregnant again (unplanned) I would really love a home birth i had a very easy labour and birth with my fist child and had no complications - other than being over weight. Is my weight reason enough to be denied a homebirth?

Thank you

It might depend on your area and how over weight you are. I wouldn't have thought it would be denied if that's the only risk factor. I had a BMI of 30 on booking in with this pregnancy and the mw asked if I wanted to consider a home birth so it must not have been impossible.

I think the cut-off is usually a BMI of 35, but please remember that nobody can make you do anything. If you don't want to go to hospital, you don't have to. Similarly, if you don't want to go against medical advice, it is also possible to become healthier throughout your pregnancy, meaning that a home birth could be on the cards as you progress. They really only want a firm decision from you at 36wks.

FWIW I am 10+5 and have a BMI of 30. I shall be having a home birth too!

Good luck!
