Early labour at 34+5?

I wrote this the day before yesterday and thought i would repost on here also with an update .....
4th pregnancy and all my babies have been between 7 - 12 days late. I am 34 and half weeks now with my 4th and these past few days i have had a few aches and regular tightenings (some quite intense and feel crampy) i am working from home at the moment and only sitting down. Had a bit of a stressful morning (arguing with the OH) and did a fair bit of walking too then came back and did some work and just finished a bit of hoovering and tidying up. Throughout the day i have had a few pains in my lower back and more tightenings and now i have a bit of cramping pain, am a little concerned. Baby is nice and active so no concerns there. I have also been extremely hormonal the pat week and the slightest thing sets me off into a rage :/
Do you think i may go early based on these symptoms?? i seem to remember feeling like this when i was over due

So today i am 34 + 5. Yesterday afternoon i started to get a dull pain in my back and some very intense braxton hicks. I lay down on the sofa and they eased off.
Went to bed around 10pm and then woke at 1am with a tightening which felt like a labour pain, then another came 20 mins later and basically on and off till about 5am this morning where i was falling asleep then the tightening was waking me up.
Managed to fall back asleep then around 7am i woke up and had another 3 intense tightenings/braxton hicks - they are not really really painful but enough to make me stop in my tracks and keep still whilst it passes.
Sorry if TMI but just been the toilet and now feel like i have diarrhoea coming on :/
Am going to give the MW a call in a bit - just finishing off hospital bag and packing few bits for kids just incase, OH has taken the day off work also.

What do you think??

Definitely call the midwife. She might say it's just BH but as you're only 34 weeks they'll want to know. If they are contractions they may try to stop them or give you steroids in case they can't. Good luck and let us know how you get on x

Thank you hopeful83 - have called them up and they want me to go to the assessment unit at 11am just be checked out.
Hopefully will just be painful braxton hicks but never experienced them like this with previous pergnancies this early on. Its also accompanied by ligament pain too (which i suffer from anyway) and lower back pain which is a dull achy type.
Will keep you updated

PS any ideas what they will do?
Am thinking an internal and possibly a machine to monitor tightenings?

I went in at 33+4 with dd1 and was put on the monitor and given a check up to see if cervix was open, they also gave me steroid injections as they said it was early labour which stopped a few hours after the steroids and then she was 10 days late!

3rdbump · 21/04/2015 15:00

Well I went in and they popped me on the monitor which took 10 mins and had 2 intense strong contractions/braxton hicks?
After that the mw called the doc who did a swab to test to see if it W's likely I would labour soon. Came back negative. Cervix looked high and thick so happy to send me home. Tested negative for a water infection. However still getting the tightening and they are getting more intense and painful.
mw said she was happy to admit me if I wanted too which I said I would go home. So back at home now and still getting painful tightenings. Been told to call up again if they get worse.

How are you getting on now 3rdbump?

3rdbump · 21/04/2015 20:33

The pains died off this afternoon, between 3 - 6 all okay. However they have started up again very intense and quite painful.
I just dont know what to do?
The test (Fetal Fibronectin test) says negative meaning preterm labour unlikely for 10 days but these pains are still coming strong.

FIL luckily is local tonight so he is on standby - going to see how i get on this evening and if they continue to get worse will call them back up.
Another night of pain :/

How are you getting on now? Hope your ok OP?

3rdbump · 22/04/2015 20:29

Hi Soontobemummy, thank you for asking

Not been too bad today just consistant lower back ache. Its weird but now the evening has com the pains have started up again. Just running a bath and seeing if it eases them.
I def think early labour is underway despite what that test says. Being baby 4 i know these are much more than braxton hicks

Trust your instincts and go back in if you are worried. Say that you've laboured before and this was what it felt like. Good luck
