Has anyone had a stabilising induction?

I am 37 weeks pg with no. 3 (got DTs already, nearly 2yrs old). At my antenatal appt yesterday they said that the baby (who is very mobile) is still transverse/oblique and so they will wait one more week and then admit me to carry out a stabilising induction which apparently involves wiating for the head to go down and then quickly inducing you!!

Apparently I have a lot of space for the baby to move around in due to having had twins before (I wont say what DH's lewd comments were around this subject) so its not gearing itself up to get head down.

The risk is of cord prolapse if my waters break in the meantime - I dont know much about this and how common it is and dont want to scare myself by looking up lots of info on the net, so just wondered if anyone else has had one of these types of inductions or any midwives out there who can offer any advice?

hi - don;t want to ignore you...know a teeny bit about cord prolapse. but never heard of this type of induction..sorry!!

believe cord prolapse not too common but does have serious implications.don;t want to scare you!!!...why not give the midwife a call and have a chat...she can put your mind at rest....!

Could they externally rotate the baby? I'm in the US and I know that if the baby is transverse they can externally rotate the baby by putting pressure on the mother's abdomen (not a pleasant experience for mom) It's called external cephalic version.

I've also heard that hypnotherapy can help babies to turn.

Good luck

yes they have said that if it doesnt turn whilst I am being monitored, they will turn it - but the trouble is that the baby has so much room that the chacnes are it will just turn around again apparently! Oh well, we will see!! Thanks for your thoughts both!
