Planned sections and arnica

Second timer on the planned section here, just under three weeks to go.

Have dutifully bought my little tube of arnica drops but I can't remember how far in advance of the section date you're meant to start taking them, if at all?

TIA

If it's the pills, they are homeopathic so don't actually work, they only have a placebo effect, so it really doesn't matter. I'd take them back and ask for a refund, personally.

The NHS view on homeopathy as a 'treatment'.

lotsoftoast · 28/03/2015 00:13

You can start taking them 24-48 hours before.

Thanks both I expect you're right exexpat but for a fiver I'll take a placebo effect!

Stuff that contains arnica is proven to work.

Homeopathic arnica doesn't contain any arnica, so it won't work.

Which one have you got, OP? Smile

seaoflove · 28/03/2015 22:33

Actually, I've just Googled and it seems that the evidence for topical arnica for bruising etc. is a bit sketchy. Maybe I won't bother getting any myself...

I can't sieak for homeopathic arnica but homeopathy does work. Ive seen it work on my husband who had suffered terrible ezcema for years, which no steroid or cream had helped.

It's just from Boots - a little tube the size of a lip balm which dispenses tiny little pills. Not sure apart from that. It's upstairs in hospital bag and I'm afraid i am too lazy to climb out of sofa and have a look Blush

Sounds like homeopathic arnica to me - or sugar pills in other words Wink

smogsville · 31/03/2015 15:05

Yes seaoflove, I've bought the worlds most expensive sugar! I am more amused than cross, how can it be legal to flog it as arnica?! One to chalk up to experience!
