All because this is my second baby! I'm due tomorrow and just so fed up now!!! Arrggghhhh sorry rant over!

I thought that was normal? I have only had one baby, but was offered a sweep at 41+1. If the baby hadn't arrived, a second sweep would have been offered at 41+4, then they wanted to induce at 42 weeks.

I turned down the first sweep, and would have had the second but went into labour the day before.

Congratulations, whether they sweep or not, your baby will be here soon! Flowers

I had one at 40 + 2 with my ds1 and didn't realise that the recommendations are different for 2nd etc pregnancies! Was expecting to be offered one on Monday so just caught me my surprise when told they won't do sweep until I'm 41 weeks. Hey ho! Back to bouncing on my ball and spotting non symptoms lol!

Oh, I didn't realise they ever offered one before 41 weeks.

Good luck with the (non) symptom spotting, I remember it well. Along with drinking about 2 litres of pineapple juice a day because someone convinced me that was a foolproof way to hurry things along. It wasn't! Blush

Oooh that last week or so just sucks doesn't it! I wouldn't be in a hurry for sweeps though, maybe it was just my midwife but it was frigging horrible. Felt like being given a noogie in the most uncomfortable place imaginable Confused

Hang in there, that baby can't stay in much longer

mummywithLplates · 27/03/2015 10:27

Thanks for the hint wishing well. The thought of pineapple juice is not appealing so I won't result to suffering this old wives tale!! Hot curry any one?

Im 38&3 with my first and had a sweep yesterday Blush
Maybe its just the practitioner?
Hope your not waiting too long!

A sweep really doesn't do anything unless you are 'about to go' anyway. Probably if he's going to come before the birthday, he will do so anyway. Smile

VeryPunny · 27/03/2015 12:05

I had a sweep at 39 weeks after breaking down and crying at the MW...Think it helped that if I hadn't gone into labour naturally I was looking at a section. You have my sympathies!

weeblueberry · 27/03/2015 13:06

Our midwife doesn't offer one until the first appointment after your due date. So it could be anything from your due date to nearly two weeks afterwards depending on timing. But as Penguin said a sweep doesn't really do much until you're pretty much there anyway.

I'm due to see the midwife on Tuesday by which point I'll be 40+5. I'll get her to have a poke about and see how I'm doing. If it looks like I'm only a few days off I'll get one. If not it will just be uncomfortable and won't do much...

Roseybee10 · 27/03/2015 17:57

I wasn't offered one with my first til 41 weeks. I ended up going on my own at 40+2 anyway. I went at 39+6 with second so never got one then either.

rosepetalsoup · 27/03/2015 19:49

I think that's good. I'm only just 38 weeks and the drs/midwives are already closing in on my. Sweeps are 'orrible! I had two with my first child and they blimmin hurt, but didn't do anything.

qumquat · 29/03/2015 19:57

I think that's good too. Sweeps are horrible and there's no way of knowing if they actually achieve anything. Hope it all kicks off soon op!
