If you gave birth vaginally to a breech baby..

Or tried vaginally but led to a section...

Was it your first, second, third DC? How much did baby weigh? How damaged were/are your lady parts?

I ask as DS was undiagnosed breech and was 11lb7oz.
I was induced. After days and days I fought to get a section. First baby. Was totally scared I was making the wrong decision and something bad was going to happen. I really didn't know what to do. But finally had a section after 4 days in hospital. When they were getting him out and realised he was breech and then weighed him, I was so glad I got the section and didn't have him vaginally.

However. There's a part of me that wonders. What if the induction worked?.. Would I have been able to do it?.. Would it have led to an emergency section?.. Would he have been ok?.. Would I have been?..

He's 7.5months now so really should get over it. But I just keep wondering.

Yes I was.. It wasn't a pleasant time. I only got a section because I asked on here what my options were. Everyone on here said go for a section. So I did. And am very glad I did. I just still wonder.

It must have been you, timing is right as shortly before my friend was to be induced. I was very glad mumsnet posters supported you to say no to continuing induction.

You might be able to have a birth debrief, someone else will know how to arrange. I would understand if it is bothering you.

Yes, undiagnosed breech delivery (at home, of all places), 3rd dc, about 8lb 6 or something along those lines (can't remember exactly), and no, I wasn't damaged too badly at all (unlike with dd1 when I had an episiotomy).

It was a pretty awful experience, though! I'd definitely have gone for a c section if anyone had noticed she was breech in advance.

I gave birth to my dd vaginally and she was breech.
She was 9lb and I had a very small graze- no stitches. However, she was my third baby and I wasn't induced. My labour was very fast so she must have been in a good position despite being breech.
I didn't read your original thread but it sounds like a c section was the best option for you and your baby.

X post with January, yes I'd have chosen a section if I'd known she was breech too. I was supposed to have been having a home birth but my blood pressure had gone up a few days before having her.

Sorry to hear you feel like that. Everyone is different of course but happy share what happened with me. My second baby was undiagnosed breech. I arrived at hospital in labour with meconium running down my legs. Midwife had a feel of my bump and said she thought the baby was breech. A scan confirmed this. Not long after baby's heart started to drop and not recover quickly so prepped for an emergency csect. Taken into theatre when Dr said "this baby is coming, do exactly as I say." He was delivered v quickly. He weighed 7.7lb and I had a few stitches (with dd who came head first I had a third degree tear). I was shocked at the speed but that was why it went smoothly I think. Glad your Ds was fine.

Thanks for sharing.
I know a section was definitely the right thing to do for DS's safety.
I just think what happens if I have another baby. I don't want to go through all that again. I don't trust the medical professionals to do the best thing for me and baby. They were really awful. I will not be induced again. But that probably means I'll go way overdue and then have another massive baby and no way I want to vaginally give birth to baby that big (or bigger!).
I'm annoyed nobody picked up on his size, and that he was breech. (Whilst being induced a midwife said she didn't think he was engaged and then didn't do anything, they kept trying to get it started - no second opinion, plan, scan, just literally a passing comment).
I guess I feel I had no control over any of it, except for when MN told me to tell them I want a section and I think I'd like to have a planned ELCS for any future babies because I have no trust in them now.

EMCS; intended vaginal delivery; first pregnancy; DD 7lbs 12.5ozs. No damage to my lady bits at all despite attempted forceps and ventouse and manual James-Herriot-style hand-up-the-fanjo-and-turn-the-baby before c-section. She was looking over her shoulder and she wouldn't turn her head so no way she could come out without a lot of help.

I too was induced, at 40+4, and I don't think she was really on board with this but I had pre-eclampsia and my blood pressure was rocketing so there wasn't a choice that didn't risk my life. As it was, I had some quite significant birth trauma afterwards and had 6 months of counselling. Have you contacted the afterthoughts service at your hospital? It's well worth doing. And if you have another baby, is there another hospital nearishby which might be better?

As it is, DD is now 2.10 and I'm pregnant with DC2. I've talked it over a lot with DH and have decided that all things being equal, I'd like a VBAC (I have no problems with an ELCS either, but if I don't have to have major surgery, I'd rather not) but I will not be induced, no way no how, and the moment they think they need to intervene I want a c-section. So it's a bit all-or-nothing, but it's a decision I'm happy with. Policy at my local hospital seems not to induce VBACs anyway, so that's good. I'm also going to be doing a hypnobirthing course - if nothing else I think it will be good for mindfulness and stopping my brain going off on one if things go sideways.

The only other advice I can give is the next pregnancy is a fresh start and while the past should be taken into account it doesn't govern what's happening now. Can't really take credit for that - that was the advice from my (male) boss, who can be quite sensible at times

I had spontaneous labour on DD2. Got into hospital at 9cm dilated and waters intact. Midwife realised she was breech so I was raced up to theater for emergency section. I am glad I was sectioned as I had 3rd and foreceps on first DD so not sure how well scar tissue would have accommodated a breech labour.

Not quite the birth I had planned for and I was very close to delivering so it could have been complicated if I got into the hospital any later!
