Induction for first=induction for second?? Experiences please!

Hi all,

I'm 38+5 with my second.
I was 12 days overdue with my first and was induced. ( took pessary, then three lots of gel and 48hra before I was 1cm - they then broke my waters and 24hrs later I had my dc via forceps, epidiotomy and PPH)

Needless to say I'm hoping for a better experience this time however as time gets nearer im almost resigned to the fact I'll have to be induced again - and this is heightening my anxiety that history will repeat itself ( silly I know!)

I just wondered what others experiences were?
Did anyone have such a long induction first time and quick responsibe labour the second?
Are the chances high I'll need inducing again?

Thanks ladiesSmile

I don't know I'm afraid. I'm in a similar situation. I was induced at 40+12 with dd and I'm now 40+2 with dc2. I really really don't want to be induced again.

Hopefully lots of people will be along with positive stories for us soon. I'm a bit pessimistic though. My mum was 10 days overdue or more with me and my three siblings!

Also just to say I totally relate to it contributing to anxiety and beig resigned to it happening again. I also had forceps, tear and episiotomy and really don't want that sort of experience again! I had a sweep yesterday and woke up feeling quite low that nothing had happened overnight!

Oh I'm sorry your feeling like it too. It's horrible and you have my sympathy!
I'm the only one in my family to have ever gone overdue which makes it even worse! I was at 32 wks, brother at 34, cousins and their three children at 36 yet I defy all odds and go the total opposite!

I've got a consultant app the day before im due and my eviction plan is to demand earlier induction or refuse to leave his room! Although I'm obviously ( fast losing ) hope it may happen before then!

I know it's all worth it but I would much prefer an easier ride this time!

Good luck- I hope things get moving for you super soon!

Thanks. Fingers crossed for you too!

I went 16 days overdue, three day labour and had an induction for ds1. It was interventions galore too.

Ds2 was a dream labour. He came 4 days early, easy 7 hour labour and I enjoyed the birth. It was polar opposite to my first experience.

I too am in the same boat. Am 40+4 with dc2, dc1 was induced at 40+10 had pessary, gel and a lot of waiting about then at 40+12 had dilated to 2cm so had my waters broken and went straight on the drip then ended up having an emcs!
So this time around im very anxious not to get induced but its looking likely Sad had 2 sweeps already first one midwife couldn't get a finger in my cervix as it was too far back. 2nd one cervix was further forward and babys head was more engaged but still didn't work starting to lose hope that things wont start on their own! Booked in for balloon induction Thursday so would love to hear positive stories on spontaneous labours!

I was induced first time at 9 days over (not for being overdue though). Went on to have two further spontaneous deliveries, both home births (one 18 days overdue but completely normal). I don't think I know anyone who's been induced more than once actually.

Ooh I've been wondering about this too.
Induced with DD at 40+12, born on 40+13.
I'm now 30+2 with my 2nd and have very much resided myself to end up being really overdue again but hoping not to be induced!
HV did my home visit last week and I mentioned this to her and she guessed I'll have baby at 39 weeks. Haha, I'd be so unprepared for an early baby!

I was induced last time and am going to refuse it this time. It felt like being burned alive. They will have to give me a c-section if it comes to it.
