Ladies i'm 40+4 tomorrow with second baby. I went to 42 weeks with my 1st and was induced which was horrible, midwife said I'd be booked in for it next week if no show by then. It simply cannot happen again!!
Been trying all the tricks in the book but nothing is working, someone has recommended taking syrup of figs, as supposed to get bowels moving and trigger contractions.Anyone tried and proved this ?? please help I'm desperate xx

I tried castor oil. Cramps but no baby!

I'm just gonna go for it later

I've been taking syrup of figs after c-sec for a natural alternative to the likes of lactulose.

It tastes nice and it's worked well for me, no constipation at all despite taking various painkillers. So yes I would say give it a go!

Dates but you are supposed to eat them from 36 wks. They are also mild laxative but not sure that's why they help... You can find studies online, I think they are supposed to ripen cervix. Can't hurt!

Also try Evening Primrose Oil or Starflower oil capsules taken orally and as pessary. Again to ripen cervix but won't bring on labour as such.

Nipple stimulation and Clary sage oil both can bring on contractions so I'd be more wary... But then again if I was desperate!

Good luck!
