If your waters going were the first sign of your first labour...?

Was it also the first sign of your second?

Just wondering if my waters are likely to be the initial sign again this time.

Yes, but not my third

neolara · 08/03/2015 22:48

Yes. And third.

Hassled · 08/03/2015 22:49

1st and 4th DCs, not 2nd or 3rd.

Showy · 08/03/2015 22:52

Yes exactly the same. Evening, no other signs, spontaneous rupture.

Both ended the same way too and I know now that my waters broke because of the positions they were in which caused the subsequent labours/deliveries to be as they were.

MotherOfInsomniacToddlers · 08/03/2015 22:53

Waters going was the first thing to happen with my first. Second dc they struggled to break my waters when I was fully dialated!! Awaiting the arrival of dc3 and have no idea wage to expect

MirandaWest · 08/03/2015 22:53

With DS my waters broke spectacularly as I woke up.

With DD my waters were broken when I was about 9cm dilated.

So very different experiences.

TheWindowDonkey · 08/03/2015 22:54

Nope, second time contractions started waaaaaaay before waters went. Hours.

Mintyy · 08/03/2015 22:56

No. There were so many dangerous ramifications over the lack of concern from the hospital about the slight trickling of waters in my first pregnancy that I was offered an elective c-section for my second. So I never went into labour that time.

nocutsnobuttsnococonuts · 08/03/2015 23:01

mine didn't go fully with 1st until I was at hospital.

second was born still in her sack...

weeblueberry · 08/03/2015 23:05

Ah well. It would have been far too easy to predict if it had been eh? Wink

Waters went with DC1 after no other signs but nothing then happened and ended up induced (and then CS). Waters for DC2 went when was several hours into labour (having had niggles for 2 days before that). So no not the same at all.

Greenstone · 09/03/2015 21:41

Yes, SROM here both times. Kinda knew it would happen again for some reason!

weeblueberry · 10/03/2015 14:27

Thanks all - had a little trickle yesterday which I'm convinced was possibly hindwaters. Called triage but she's pretty convinced it was pee. Have had ongoing achy back since yesterday afternoon so no idea if anything is starting or not. She kept saying 'back ache is common in late pregnancy' as if I didn't know Grin but I explained to her that when I was in early labour last time I thought I just had back ache then rocked up for my induction at 4cm dialated. So clearly I'm rubbish at this 'signs' thing. Wink

Actually I say it was a trickle but it shot out of me at a speed of knots so who knows...

NO - with DS2 they went just before he was actually born. Thought I wasn't coping as well with the contractions as with DS1, but no - ended up with an unplanned home birth!

emsyj · 12/03/2015 17:29

Yes for me - although first time around they trickled for a few days then a sudden gush which then stopped. Second time around they gushed spectacularly and then continued to gush every time I moved. Interestingly, my mum had her waters go first with me and DSis also, wonder if it's genetic? I've got a friend who had waters go first with both her DCs and her mum had the same experience too.

RabidFairy · 12/03/2015 19:34

No, I had a sweep with DD and 3 hours later my waters went with a gush. That was the start of things.
With DS I had a sweep, which did nothing and I was induced 5 days later. That being said, all they did to get labour going was artificially break my waters, so I suppose technically yes my waters going was the start, but it didn't happen naturally in my second labour.
We have till June to see what happens for DC3!

ASorcererIsAWizardSquared · 12/03/2015 19:42

yes with my first, no with my second, my waters didnt go until right before i gave birth with no2.

CPtart · 12/03/2015 20:13

No. Went with a trickle on the loo first time. 24 hrs before delivery.
Went with a bang second time, moments before delivery.

happypotamus · 14/03/2015 19:15

Yes. Seccond time they went with an audible pop which was weird. Quite spectacular gushes after that. I had to change my trousers 3 times in less than a hour despite having 2 pads on. Baby born within 2hrs.

countingdown · 14/03/2015 19:19

Yes

BiggerYellowTaxi · 14/03/2015 19:20

My waters went prior to contractions with my first. They didn't go until almost fully dilated the second time. Good luck wee!

Velvetbee · 14/03/2015 19:39

1st, 3rd and 4th.
2nd was an elective section.
