Sorry have started a couple of threads this eve!

I am having an ELCS in 3 wks. What should I be wearing afterwards? So far I have nighties for hospital plus one pair of PJs if needed. I have one paid of yoga fold over pants to come home in and that's about it.

I have some jogging bottoms which are maternity and I love but they are quite low waisted so may have to see where my scar is. They may be ok as my bump goes down. Have lots of granny pants (up to belly button).

I have maternity dresses but no jeans (I sold them all as so uncomfy! In last weeks). Obviously have 'normal jeans' but doubt I can get into those for a few weeks / months based on last baby and all are pretty low waisted..

Do I need to buy more?! Baby is coming end if March so need spring time attire really! Any tips?

I wore maternity dresses for the first few weeks. I couldn't bear anything near the scar.

McFox · 24/02/2015 22:49

That sounds like a good selection. I wore a lot of maxi dresses too - you can wear ginormous pants underneath them and it's all very comfortable :)

I also bought some fantastic pjs (2 sizes up from usual) from asda which had a matching floaty kimono style top. I stuck a vest underneath and it was comfortable and good for feeling dressed when we had visitors.

Normal jeans and maternity jeans would be awful after a CS. My normal ones were too tight for weeks. I had over the bump maternity jeans from Next that I lived in throughout pregnancy. The seam where the denim meets the stretchy part is exactly where my scar was so not good. Did wear them once but had to stick a maternity pad to the seam to cushion it but still not ideal! Soft stretchy trousers and dresses are best.

What about tights (maternity style!) over the bump with maternity dresses? Would that work with big pants under or too uncomfortable...?

fold down yoga pants and maternity leggings were the comfiest. Once I was our and about around 3 weeks I stuck to maternity jeans and combats. I think it took around 6 weeks both times to feel comfy in normal clothes.

I had non-maternity leggings in a large size that I'd been wearing in the last few weeks of pregnancy. Also some maternity jersey trousers, a bit like yoga pants.

BikeRunSki · 25/02/2015 08:16

Yoga pants definitely.

rallytog1 · 26/02/2015 07:44

Yep, yoga pants or maternity leggings.

Mrsteddyruxpin · 26/02/2015 07:47

I got a large size pair of harem style soft trousers from Amazon and bought two pairs of black pj bottoms so I felt dressed incase people visited but was super comfortable.

Good luck with all!!

Don't forget to pack colpermin too

I lived in leggings and dresses/tunic tops after my EMCS.

I don't think I could have coped with tights, they would have made me feel hot and uncomfortable with the pads I think.

Mamas and Papas do amazing pyjama bottoms which I wore for a while around the house afterwards too.

I think maternity over the bump jeans would, as pp said, end up sitting at your scar.

Good luck!

ratticus · 26/02/2015 07:53

Yep- anything super soft and high waisted! Also you can get maternity pants- basically massive elasticated granny pants. I felt like they were holding me together for a while. I still wear them for exercising a year on Smile

I had a section two weeks ago and so far I live in maternity leggings and long Vest tops or tunics, also in huge full briefs. Definitely avoid anything that risks rubbing the healing wound, it chuffing hurts!

Csection knickers from mothercare - expensive but worth every penny.
I wore my over the bump maternity jeans for the 5/6 weeks post op, and nighties for bedtime.

Kelly1814 · 26/02/2015 18:33

Get a belly bandit or cheap version of from amazon. I found this really supportive as well as sucking me in.

They go right below and above the scar, so no rubbing....

TreadSoftlyOnMyDreams · 26/02/2015 18:49

Lived in fold down yoga pants for weeks. Folded up Grin stylish!!
Not the maternity ones as the pressure from the band was too uncomfortable
Had some comfy maternity trousers which I wore if I needed to look vaguely respectable
Dresses were a bit of a nightmare as nothing I had was bf friendly
I went out and just bought some cheap clothes to tide me over until things were more normal but lots of loose fitting tops and cardigans covered a multitude and meant I could feed too.

If it's any consolation it wasn't any better after a VBAC. It just hurt elsewhere. Was in jeans far quicker after a CS!
