Contractions at 33 + 5 but then nothing, anyone else?

I experienced strong, painful contractions for hours last week at 33 + 5 weeks, they were coming every few minutes and were not affected by changing positions etc, spent the night in hospital but then they tapered off and disappeared. Has anyone else experienced this and then went on to deliver early?

I had this at 37+4 so a few weeks further on than you - had contractions all night, got to 3cm dilated then everything ground to a halt. We totally expected it all to start up again within the next few days, especially seeing as my plug went too. Dd was born at 39+3 in the end...
Did the hospital check to see whether you were dilated at all? I hope your lo manages to stay in situ for a good few weeks more Smile

thanks Littlemiss! I wasn't dilated at all so once the contractions stopped they sent me home...I guess it just jolted me into thinking maybe I should prepare for an early delivery hah!

Yes, me, at 33 weeks. I had a bleed too, so spent a few days in hospital being monitored, had scans, etc, but all was fine. Was discharged on the wed afternoon and ended up back in delivery, with regular, strong contractions, on the Wed night, but they tapered off, then nothing.
They called it "irritable uterus" and I was told to keep an eye on it and phone in, if I was worried
After that, I just had some pretty impressive Braxton hicks, but they were quite different. I was told that I might give birth early, but she ended up staying put and I had to be induced!
Good luck
