How soon after show did things kick off?

Am 40 weeks today! Had a sweep yesterday in which my cervix was deemed 'favourable'. Always good to know! Apologies in advance for TMI but have been losing plug gradually for couple of weeks but last night and this morning it has turned bloody. Apart from BHicks, I don't have cramps or backache.

How long after your 'show' (if that's what mine was) did labour begin, and any tips to get things progressed further?

Also is a bloody show the same as plug? Total first timer here!

Thanks!

My show started on the Saturday afternoon, and I had my son at 7.30am on the Tuesday morning.

Sorry, posted before I meant to !

I went for a few long walks and had a couple of clary sage baths to try and get labour going. I kept getting contractions on/off for a couple of days, but didn't go into active labour until 3 am on the Tuesday morning. My son was born 4 hours later.

I did a lot of googling and most people will go into labour a few days after a bloody show Smile .

Show on Sunday morning, labour Tuesday night, born 6am Wednesday morning. 1st baby.

Mine took 2-3 weeks to come away before I went into labour

It's so hard to tell isn't it?! I have to admit I feel quite rotten today, very uncomfortable in the pelvic region and quite groggy. I've just hopped into bed for a sleep and I never do that. Pethaps it's a sign of things to come.

Thank you for your imput ladies!

Hope it all kicks off for you tonight! I am 40 + 3 with no show or anything! My friend had her show on Friday evening and baby was born Sunday morning if that's of any help though!

Really seems to depend.

1st - show was during active labour
2nd - no show (or at least I never saw it, no idea how given the size of it the first time around!)
3rd - A c-section, but I was already in pre-labour. Never saw it then, before of after.

With my first I lost the plug around 7am and she was born the following lunchtime, it was one big blood stained plug though not little bits.

This time I've been cramping for about 24 hours now, had a sweep this morning and have lost a tiny bit of pink mucus, I was only 1cm though and cervix was spongy but still quite deep so I'm not expecting her to arrive tomorrow.

Your symptoms sound promising, as if your body wants to rest to get energy for what's imminent. Remember to keep eating and drinking plenty to keep your energy levels up, first labours are often long and you may not feel like eating.

Ds was born about 6 hours after the show . He is dc3 and the labour had been on off for 24hours , had the show the contractions then got strong and then he was born ( not without a fight mind you ! ) good luck hopefully it won't be long now :)

bruffin · 19/02/2015 23:28

Dd was born 4 hours after show

blankfornames · 20/02/2015 07:21

The consultant said if the sweep works it'll be within 48 hrs. That time is almost up...not that Im clock watching!!

No point stressing. Is the show different to losing the plug?

I think it's the same thing.

My sweep doesn't seem to have worked either Sad tomorrow at 9.30 will be 48 hours but since having it my cramps have stopped.

These last weeks really drag don't they.

With both of mine, I've started having early labour contractions within hours of a bloody show.
DD1 -show on Saturday evening, slow early labour, born Monday morning.
DD2- show on Thursday afternoon, born Friday evrning.

Hope you're not waiting too long.

With my first pregnancy I had my "show" at 8pm and contractions started just after midnight. I had my little boy at 3.40pm.
