Sweep today, 4cm dilated already. Does this mean anything?

So I had a sweep at the hospital today and the Dr found that I was already 4cm dilated and the cervix is very soft and in her words "good to go". The head is right down low too. I'm having lot's of twinges and pressure down below. This is DC3 and I'm 39+6. Is labour far off or could I be walking around at 4cm dilated for a while yet?

Sounds good news to me, I didn't get to 4cm until id been in labour (horrifically painful contractions every 3 mins lasting a minute each time, no sleep) for 40 hours! I am very jealous. Good luck

As its your 3rd baby you can be 4cm a while. You need the baby's head well down, pressing on the cervix & some good contractions. Good Luck! X
