Sorry to be unsure, but I am 37+3 and have had a clear discharge since Thursday. I started getting period type cramps on Friday night, which although not regular have nto gone away with a bath, or moving. They haven't increased in intensity, but are still there. And my belly goes really hard when I am having them. Thought I had 3 weeks to go, so should I start to think about hospitals, or will this pass?

the discharge might be a show...or it could just be discharge..I had it a lot during the last few weeks. You could also be having Braxton Hicks...(practise contractions)
keep and eye on the timings and intensity...
(not much help sorry but hope all goes well )

Just having visions of these lasting for another 3 weeks! Don't think i could put up with it for that long, though could do with the time, not really prepared.

Sounds like Braxton hicks. I had them for about 4 weeks with dd2. I kept wondering if 'this is it'. But, I assume you, when it really does happen there is no doubt that it is. But, I had such an easy labour with dd2. Only about an hour. The midwife said all the braxton hicks I had been having had probably helped.

I meant to say that they have been coming since Friday night......do Braxton Hicks go on this long?

ludaloo · 22/10/2006 09:49

they can go on for weeks

clairegp · 22/10/2006 10:54

they can, not sure i can manage every 7 minutes for the next 3 weeks......won't get to do anything, including sleep

the discharge might be you cervix thinning down!!

lulumama · 22/10/2006 10:57

it is likely to be BH - if they are not increasing in intensity and are not getting stronger, more frequent..then BH..

body is gearing up for labour

i would have the bags packed ready , but i don;t think it will be today!!!!

discharge does increase towards the end of pregnancy

a show can be clear, can be snotty...and bloodstained....

is this your first baby?

busybusymum · 22/10/2006 11:00

With my first I got what sounds like the same sort of pain every 5 mins for a good few weeks before DD was born. I was able to pretty much "work Through" them during the day but I couldnt sleep at night.

Good luck

clairegp · 22/10/2006 11:00

yes, this is my first. DH is getting concerned as I am now tired and grouchy from these. I'm turning into a prune from all teh baths I;ve had! At least I'll be clean when I do make it to hospital. I had so much planned for next 3 weeks (only finished work on Friday). May not make it to a leg and bikini wax, the shame

try to rest as much as you can in the day....although being active and upright will encourage the baby to move down ready for birth...but Don;t get worn out . you still might have 3 weeks to go...so take it easy....look after yourself....

nappiesLaGore · 22/10/2006 11:06
