Injection after 4 or more babies

Wonder if anyone could help me please. I had a homebirth with a mw present. I remember her giving me an injection in my thigh and her telling me because this was my fourth baby I would need the injection daily for about a week. I.didn't have any more injections though. Have tried googling but can't find anything. Does anyone know what this injection was?

Is it something to do with blood clotting? After my section I had an injection in my bum every day for a week.

Was the injection in your leg immediately after the baby was born? It would be syntometrine to help the uterus contract and expel the placenta and reduce bleeding. Most women have it but some women choose not to, however by the time it's your fifth baby it's recommended that women should have it as they have a higher chance of bleeding.

An INjection which you have daily for a week is clexane to prevent blood clots. The more babies you've had does increase your risk slightly but normally you need one or two more risk factors to qualify for clexane. So age, raised bmi, smoker, .....

I wonder if you had the syntometrine and she discussed/wondered out loud about clexane and then realised you didn't need clexane.

It was definitely after the placenta had been delivered. My friend arrived and heard the same with the mw saying I needed daily injections but she would show me how to do it. Didn't see a hcp after delivery at all. It was a concealed pregnancy so maybe that is why.
It really shouldn't matter. Baby is 8 months now and we are both fine but I seem to be stuck on it and google was no help.
Thankyou for your respondes

It'll be clexane then. That's the only thing given daily for a week.

Thankyou
