okay, so this isn't contractions, but...

If it wasn't for the rather obvious fact that I'm 38 weeks today, I'd say my period was on its way. I've got a dull ache in my back and at the front of my pelvis, which has been going on since late last night.

It's not coming and going in waves, it responds to paracetamol, it's just a nuisance, so contractions it ain't. I had a bit of this when the head engaged a few days ago, but that went away after a few hours, this pain seems to have taken up residence.

So what does it mean? Is it a sign that things are getting on their way in the next day? two or three days? Or is it yet another indignity of late pregnancy that I am going to have to put up with until I finally give birth two weeks late?

Answers on a postcard much appreciated...

Things are moving, but, it still might be days/weeks, especially if its responding to paracetamol. Have you your bags ready though? Also, use the pre-warning signs to get LOADS of sleep (if you can). I stayed up until all hours thinking I was on the verge of labour, and regretted it when I was! Have you thought about taking some rasberry leaf tea?

Good Luck!

think positive....visualise the baby moving down, settling down in the pelvis ready to be born..that is far more positive way to look at the discomfort.......

sit on a gym ball, do some walking, raspberry leaf tea also good ( thanks QueenQuootie!)

is this your first?

right, so on with normal life it is! thankyou for that.

I've been on the rasperry leaf tea for the last ten days or so - and funnily enough, we did a proper sort out on the hospital bag last night, so I shall sit on my ball and relax. And yes, it is my first, and the family tradition is to be late...

well, then expect the baby to come at 42 weeks and if it is earlier, it is a bonus...!!

things build up to labour and it is hard not to overanalyse every twinge and ache...enjoy the last bit of calm and relaxation ....and get ready for baby!
