Waters broke about 27 hours ago and for the past 5 hours been having mild contractions 15mins apart. I'm stuck in hospital as having a vbac- what can I do to get things going? Any tips? They won't induceme but may offer a hormone drip. Just want this baby out now, I really didn't envisage being in hospital for 24 hrs before anything really started!! Ahhhhhh

Can you do lots of standing up, walking about if you're not already?

My contractions didn't get any closer together or any more intense than 10 mins apart for 14 hours, that was bloody tiring. They started at 6am and I was booked in for another induction at 8pm, when I was examined they found I was around 4cm and gave me another sweep and told me to go for a walk. As soon as I left the induction suite to go for a walk i was having contractions every 4-5 minutes and DS was born 7 hours later.

I don't know if you can have a sweep once waters have broken but if not then just keep moving and upright as much as you can. I lost track of the number of times me and DH walked up and down the corridor! And bounce on a ball if they have one rather than sit on a chair or bed.

Good luck! Smile
