Glasses or contacts???

What do you all reckon is better for during labour?

On the one hand, glasses are comfy but liable to steam-up/fall off, on the other hand my eyes get sore wearing contact for long periods of time....

What did you choose?

I wear glasses and took them off because they got on my nerves. Easy to put on again after, much less faff than contacts.

When I had a c section, I got told to take my glasses off anyway.

glasses. def wouldn't want to wear contacts in labour.

NOMurDErousPLUME · 17/10/2006 13:18

I wore my glasses, but then I'm not much of a wearer of contacts day-to-day anyway. Plus the fact that I woke up in full blown labour at 11.30pm and was in no state to be fiddling about with contacts !

I think they ask you to take contacts out, in case you need an emergency op & therefore a general anaesthetic. Hopefully not though!

Glasses more practical, i found.

i wore contacts throughout my labour and for my em c-section. i bought a det of daily disposables for in hospital so i didnt have to mess with solutions etc.

Go in with contacts in but take your glasses in case eyes getting sore (what I did!)

IdrisTheDragon · 17/10/2006 14:02

I definitely had my glasses on with DS.

Can't remember with DD. Probably contacts (labour started at 7am, she was born at 1:30pm). Feel a bit that I can't remember - she's only just one.

melrose · 17/10/2006 14:02

O do use disposables though so no faffing in cleaning them!

Glasses, absolutely.
