I am just curious to no does everyone who has a EMERGENCYCS or ELECS get this 'overhang' Sad ?

No not everyone. It all depends on your weight op.

dy14 · 12/01/2015 10:35

ThanksSmile

I've got a bit of one and it gets more noticeable if my weight goes up. Having an elcs soon and I know it sounds vain but I'm worried about being left with a more noticeable overhang. Wondering if I can request a bit of a nip and tuck at the same time Grin

Madamecastafiore · 12/01/2015 20:44

I don't have one. Had ELCS.

Newyearnewoutlook · 12/01/2015 20:47

1 emcs and 3elcs and no overhang but it was a bit lumpy in the first few weeks after each cs

Only1scoop · 12/01/2015 20:48

No I don't have an overhang ....I'm not slim by any means at the moment but nothing hangs over.

ProfessorPickles · 12/01/2015 20:55

I don't have anything that hangs over but my belly sticks out IYSWIM.

Think this may be weight related more than c section related but I don't think it helps.

How long has it been since the operation op?

ProfessorPickles · 12/01/2015 20:58

Mine was a cat 1 emcs if that makes a difference too, apparently my scar is neat to say what a rush it will have been to get DS out and it is huge and lumpy! Sad

Sorehead · 12/01/2015 21:06

I had EMCS in Oct and have no overhang. It was a bit lumpy for a few weeks (scar tissue?), but that's gone down now and I have a flat, red scar.

Annietheacrobat · 12/01/2015 21:15

None after my first but unfortunately I do have one after number 2. (Despite being 2 stone lighter and much fitter)

Lucked · 12/01/2015 21:17

Nothing hangs over my scar it's very flat around the scar but I think my scar is very low - well below my knickers and I can't imagine overhanging there unless I was morbidly obese. I do have a big belly at the moment but not near my scar.

Suzietwo · 12/01/2015 21:20

2 emcs and 1 elcs and minging overhang. No worse than after first tho, to be fair. I'm pretty normal sized 12

TheBookofRuth · 12/01/2015 21:21

I had an EMCS and then a VBAC 2.5 years later, and don't have an overhang.

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 12/01/2015 21:24

I was slim at the time of pregannacy and for 3 years after. have had an overhang. also my belly is a bit fanny shape, sort of square Hmm. i had a hormonal weight gain a year ago and now I'm back to my pre-pregnancy size/ weight. the overhand is slightly smaller but I've seen very skinny women on the beach who very clearly had a c-section, so no, not always weight related.

Hurr1cane · 12/01/2015 21:25

I don't unless I get a little bit overweight for me. Still not fat by any means but if I go a bit mad on the booze (like at christmas) I do a bit, I'm 5"8 and bang in the middle of 10-12. Well 8-10 top 10-12 bottoms and if i go more to the 10/12 side of things I do get a slight overhang and then make sure I cut back on indulging Grin

Some people do get it though regardless of weight. I think it depends on how neat the scar is.

scottgirl · 12/01/2015 21:28

No overhang at all. I had a lot of probing around there 1 1/2 years after section due to appendicitis and the doctors totally missed the scar too!!

Showy · 12/01/2015 21:29

Nope, not weight related necessarily.

I am a very fit size 8 with bloody good definition, including a 6 pack. Scar is very low down. I will always have a slight overhang. It is not fat. It is lean tissue and skin, stitched tight. I am the opposite of morbidly obese.

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 12/01/2015 21:30

FUnny shape! not fanny!

cupofteaplease · 12/01/2015 21:30

4 sections, dreadful overhang. I can't look at my naked body in the mirror, it's repulsive.

Spinaroo · 12/01/2015 21:32

I have one but I do think it is loose skin as mine looks much worse and longer when I am slimmer. I have had 2 emcs and 1 elcs but I have had it since the first- when I also got horrendous stretch marks which were never replicated in subsequent pregnancies. Very Envy at all these people with none

MarjorieMelon · 12/01/2015 21:34

I was very slim when I had my first child and I still got the overhang. Like cupofteaplease I also can't look in the mirror. Quite amazing that I managed to conceive a second child really!

I can't either Ann! And 8 years later I still have horrific internal scarring and chronic pain. Nice neat scar though. It depends completely on the surgery and the neatness of the cut and skill of the stitcher upper person I think.

Mrsteddyruxpin · 12/01/2015 21:45

fanny shape my mind was boggled there!!
Grin

I have but not long after a section so I remember it reduced a lot the las time. I am returning swimming soon.

MarjorieMelon · 12/01/2015 21:49

When I had my second section they told me that my first surgeon had caused the overhang and it was a botched job. They said they would rectify the mistake and give me a mini tummy tuck. I was so disappointed when I realised after that they must have been joking.
