3rd or subsequent C-Sections anyone? Any problems!?

Hi guys Wink

Had an emergency section with first in 2007, I just wouldn't dilate and was in labour for 57 hours Sad

Second was a planned section in 2010 - no major problems, just like a very heavy period type bleeding afterwards (sorry Blush)

I am booked in to have my 3rd (LAST!!) section 10th Feb, but have started to become nervous, mainly at the increase in various risks, that you read about in pamphlets and online, from Consultants etc Sad

Has anyone had 3 or more sections but been fine, i.e., no major health issues, problems after labour, or with the procedure itself?

I've had 2 emergencies and an elective and was told afterwards I was good for another one. I've been absolutely fine but I think it depends on the individual. The Queen's had 4..

A friend of mine has had 3 c sections and is fine. Hasn't Victoria beckham had 4? Something like that

There was a thread about this the other day. I have had 3. 2 emergencies and one elective, all within the last 5 years. I asked a lot of questions about whether if be ok for a fourth and all the medics said 'only 3' was an old wives tale and unless there is something particularly special about you, 3 + is fine. I specifically asked about "letterbox" uterus as I've heard it cited often and was told it was rubbish.

That's not to say I'm not absolutely shitting it at the prospect of a 4th! I am undecided about whether or not to do it.

My third was longest surgery because I had adhesions but otherwise totally fine and best recovery by far.

I had 3. The first two were fine. With the third one my bladder got a small cut because of awkward adhesions. It healed quickly though, and I have no problems from it.

Nobody warned me off a third CS and even after my third CS my consultant said I could go again if I liked (I didn't).

Is that true about the Queen? She had all her children at home I thought (Buckingham Palace!). Victoria Beckham has had 4 c sections though!

What if you've had three, consultant says no more, and you get pg again? Do you have to have an abortion? Sorry if stupid question.

Iv had 3, no probs. Was told they didnt recommend 4 however.

Ignominious, I asked my consultant that. She said that in those circumstances you get upgraded to a special surgical team for high-risk CS.

I've had four sections with no problems. (I am not Victoria Beckham, btw.)

I've had 4, no problems at all.

I had adhesions which used to hurt like hell after no 2 so surgeon fixed that problem during delivery of no 3 (gave me great relief, I can sneeze without feeling like someone is stabbing me!)

No probs with no 4 either. I took it nice and easy afterwards ( accepted all offers of help) and didn't drive or use the hoover for as long as possible afterwards. The surgeon even sewed my abdominal muscles back together Smile

Tbh, no 1 felt the worst.

I won't be going for a fifth though as I think that would be pushing it.

I feel like you, will be having my third section in June and much more nervous than with no. 2.

I've got endo so expecting they'll be a lot of adhesions too.

I had serious adhesions after 2nd and so during 3rd had long surgery to make it better. Worried they'd be worse after 3rd but they aren't as painful as it was. So maybe it doesn't simply follow that adhesions are worse with each subsequent section... Maybe!

I've had 5 c-sections with no problems and was told I could even go for number 6 if I so wished.
Everyone heals differently though and I've heard of people being told not to have any more after they're second.

i've had elective, vbac and 2 emergencies. All is fine but was told had loads of scarring. Not planning any more pgs so not a problem. Not in pain but baby 3 came 5 weeks early and baby 4 came 6 weeks early. The scarring on the womb explains it to me though no medic has told me that so i would worry for the baby if I had another.

I've had four, cs 2 was the worst but that was due to placenta complications (accreta also had it with no4) . Cs 3 was amazing. No pain at all.
