Hi,

At my 6 week check with DS3 the doctor prescribed antibiotics because I was still bleeding very small amounts and she thought I may have retained a bit of tissue and may have an infection. I was told to come back in 10 days if things hadn't cleared.

The 10 days have been and gone, but there was a wierd bit of bleeding last night, so I assume something is still in there.

Does anyone know what they will do now? I assume it will be a D&C, but I don't really know what that will involve. Does it normally happen under general anaesthetic? Is there a recovery time when you are not allowed to be active? (I hope not, with 3 to look after).

Many thanks in advance for any help you can give.

Hi Crayon
I had a D&C to get rid of 'retained products' after a miscarriage a few years ago.
It was a simple procedure under GA, I think the I was under for about 30 minutes. I was in and out in half a day and was told to rest for the rest of the day and take it easy the rest of the week.
However, it was done on a Wednesday and the Saturday was DS' 3rd birthday so I was up and about on the Thursday baking and preparing for his party .... I was fine ....
