Quick question - waters breaking

I'm 40+1 with my first child and I have a fairly odd question about waters breaking which is this:

When they go, does your bump deflate and the shape of your baby become more apparent?

I just have this vision of my baby as having sort of water filled balloons round her and I was thinking that if they burst, wouldn't she then be squished up against my internal organs? I know they refill again continually but I was just wondering if you could tell by looking or feeling that it'd happened (puddles on the carpet aside).

With dd1 my waters went on the Thursday am and i didn't have her till saturday afternoon.They trickled and gushed all that time.If i'd had a really big gush my tummy def looked smaller and the baby looked more prominent to me.

But my waters regenerated sometimes overnight.I didn't know that this could happen but thats what happened anyway.

I believe there are 2 parts to the bag of waters, am I imagining this?

When my waters broke a fair bit came out, but nothing like what came out in the later stages of labour during strong contractions.

Am going to google now, am intrigued...

Seriously....there is more definition to the baby (still not that clear), but, then when my waters were broken I started having much stronger contractions which also squeeze around the baby giving a more definitive outline anyway - IME.

I found this:

"This could be with a gush or a trickle, it depends how much amniotic fluid you have and whether it is the 'fore-waters' (the large volume of fluids in front of the baby's head) or a leak of the 'hind-waters' (the smaller amount of fluid behind the baby's head). The medical term for waters breaking is spontaneous rupture of the membranes (SRM). This can happen before contractions start, but it's more usual for it to happen during established labour, although in a few cases it can be delayed to right before your baby's head appears. If it's your hind waters that have leaked, contractions may not follow right away because your baby's head may not be applying enough pressure to the cervix."

Short answer is no. But mine went as I was getting out of bed and I could tell they'd gone by the fact that we now appeared to have an en suite swimming pool...

Oh, and mine went with a gush, but that is because they were broken for me and I was already having contractions at that point which was helping to squeeze the water out.

the waters do replenish themsleves constantly ....if they go during labour , it doesn;t really matter then! as baby on the way!

if the head is engaged then not all the water can come out and it will be the forewaters that go....

mine were broken during my first labour, nothing dramatic happened, about an hour later i was sat in a small puddle!

they rupture spontaneously during my second labour, with a pop that we all heard! and shot 2 foot across the room and ruined my shoes which were under the delivery bed...gutted!!
