Catheter site stinging

Hi everyone, I had my DD on the 23rd and had an epidural. 5 days later and home safe, the main cause of pain since (other sores but this is quite sharp) is a stinging pain at the site of the catheter. Sometes when I pee but often when I move or get yup from sitting. Is this normal?

yes probably - may have caused trauma

Yes I noticed this once at home after having an ELCS- I thought it was probably to do with some trauma when it was inserted/taken out.

I was a bit surprised as I didn't think there would be residual tenderness tho have never had a catheter before so didn't know what to expect.

Me either. How long ago was yours, TurquoiseDress? If a while, how long until it healed? I think I might try to get mine checked by the GP this week just in case.

Hi mine was several months ago but I'm sure that it seemed to get better within a few days.

Just remember wiping after a wee and feeling quite tender, didn't think a catheter would leave soreness like that but seemed to be the case for me.

It wasn't major pain just something unexpected if you know what I mean. Best get it checked out by GP if you're worried.

If it starts to get any worse then see your doctor as it could be a UTI! Catheters can often cause them unfortunately. Hopefully it's just a bit of trauma and will ease off soon though.

Thanks guys. Went to the doctors and I did have a UTI from the catheter. One week if amoxicillin and hopefully I should be pain free... There at least lol
