ffn accuracy

Has anyone had a ffn test come back negative, and it be wrong? I'm still having contractions occasionally and my uterus is irritable, could it cause the contractions to progress? When I went into hospital to be monitored they did a trace for the contractions, they made no difference, as cervix was still closed but my babys heart rate was high on arrival and spiked a bit with each contraction, hospital didn't seem too worried.
