It's happening - sort of!

I'm 38 + 6 today. Lost my mucus plug on Wednesday. Has some minor cramps once or twice but only for a few minutes then it was gone. Was just retuning from doing the shopping today and has literally just got out the car at the house when my waters went - big style - why did no one tell me it would be quite as much fluid!

Mat assessment asked me to come in for a check - confirmed waters had gone, baby was happy and mw did a sweep and said my cervix was favourable and she expected me to go into full labour myself - that was at 1pm and other than a few contractions and my waters continuing to flow not much is happening - been walking about (we went shopping) bouncing on my birthing ball but not much happening - I've to go back at 12 tomorrow for induction if I've not gone on my own - what else can I do? Should I just try and sleep now since I might not get much rest over the weekend or is there anything else I can do to get things started?

Yes, relax and sleep if you can.

Sod law dictates that as soon as you've got comfortable enough to doze off you'll go into full labour :)

Good luck

This happened to me. Waters broke, contractions which only got me to 3cm, induced the following day. I'd say rest if you can. I was exhausted!

My waters broke at 3am. Went to maternity assessment 7am. Home again by 11am with instructions to go to be induced at 7am the following day. Bounced/walked etc all day and nothing. Then as I was going to bed, majorly painful contractions started, very close together. Back to hospital. Still only a bit dilated. Contracted all night and was exhausted and no longer coping well by early morning, so I told them they weren't to come near me with the drip til I had an epidural. Drip went up at 7am, when I was 3 cm. DD was born at 11.27am and it was fab!

Good luck! This time tomorrow you might have a baby Envy

Ooooooooòoooooooh!

Exciting! I had no spectacular burst of waters, no mucus plug, no twinge, I'm v jealous!

Do try and have a sleep - after a warm bath if possible. Check you have everything you need at hand, leave extra stuff on the dining table (nappies, babygros, nighties), in case you need them later but don't fancy family rifling through your drawers to find things! Worked well for us.

Congratulations and good luck kitkat3321 Thanks
