Epsiotomy scar not healing shut

Hi everyone, I'm 6 weeks post partum and had a forceps delivery with emergency episiotomy. The epsiotomy had an infection at 3 weeks and the outer stitches came out at about 4 days. It is now healed on the inside and had 2 small holes (sorry tmi) along the outer tissue of the scar. One has healed together but the other at the beginning of the cut has still not completely healed together. Is it likely to heal together now after 6 weeks? I've had a post natal check up and one in hospital after the infection where they said it might heal apart :/ just looking for others experiences...

No experience of non healing but you can certainly request that it is repaired again.

I had a similar experience when I had DC1, forceps delivery and episiotomy wound that broke down afterwards.Rather than resuture, the wound was left to heal.It took a while but it did heal fully, I would say at this stage (only 3 weeks since your infection and wound breakdown) there is still time and a good chance and it will heal over. I suppose it depends how big the gap is,do you have any further appointments for follow up booked?
I thought I would have a problem with scar tissue in the area but went on to have normal deliveries of 3 further children(7,10 and 21 years later!) with only minimal tearing requiring 0 - 2 sutures.

Thanks for your replies. It's good to here others experiences Smile freckle no other appts booked. Hospital just said to leave it 6 months and see how I feel. It's good to know you were able to have normal deliveries after as I was worried it would mean another episiotomy in the future

I had a similar issue with my stitches. It did eventually heal but I'm left with what I affectionately call my mutant lump from where it didn't realign properly. I've been offered corrective surgery but to be honest it's not painful and doesn't bother me.
