PGP during birth

I have had PGP throughout my pregnancy, it has usually been my lower back and hips. In the past 4 weeks it has moved to the front of my pelvis, pubic bone area. I am now 40+6 and have a sweep today. I am starting to worry about the pain it my pubic bone during labour. Has anyone experienced this kind of PGP during labour and are there any secrets I need to know to make it easier? Wink

I have pgp too and am wondering the same. I saw on that (awful but compelling) 'don't drop the baby' programme (channel 4 or iplayer) a lady who had such bad pgp she was using a wheelchair. She had to be helped into birth positions and supported while in them. In the end she had a epidural - I don't think as a direct result of her pgp - and was still being supported.

I cam see how you can adopt different positions to take the pressure off hips and back but pubic bone? It has to come out somehow! Thanks for the tip on the TV show. I am a bit of a OBEM addict at the moment so I will add it to the list. x

I had pgp in my last two pregnancies

With dc3 I had alot of pain on the pubic bone and I hate to break it to you but it was extremely painful during later stages of labour

It felt like it was going to break and hurt much more than my contractions

Ok that doesn't sound good. An osteopath has really helped with my pgp in only two sessions. Is it worth getting an appointment tomorrow to see if this could help?

I have no experience of using an oesteopath but I think I should have given something a go! It bloody hurt alot

Dd was a modest weight at 8lb6 I imagine the bigger the baby the worse this is

Water birth and kneeling position helped me minimise PGP during labour and delivery. Good luck!

Thanks to everybody for their advice. Sweep this afternoon so we will see how it goes. Thanks again. x
