ELCS - did you tell people the date?

I'm curious as to whether you shared the planned date of your ELCS with others, or just told them when you'd had your baby. Obviously other than 'need to know' situations where they were looking after your other DC.

Yes I've shared the date, i tried to be a bit vague but when I've been asked directly I've let people know.

Though my elcs was meant to be next week and I was told earlier this week it's been delayed into the week after. I'm now trying to make sure that everyone who did know the date knows there's change and they don't worry when there's no news.

Nope, just our parents who were swore to secrecy.
Were quite private though, no Facebook accounts etc.

I just didnt like thought of:
A) everyone knowing date of birth
B) having to endless texts & week wishes, especially if it ended up being postponed

No- we only told family on both sides.

There didn't seem to be any point to tell all & sundry, including good friends, just in case it was postponed for whatever reason.

Also, in a way it meant we could keep the news for ourselves for as long as we wanted & not having to field enquiries from lots of people!!

Yes. I didn't go out my way to let people know, but would tell people if it came up in conversation. No reason not to. It was nice to get lots of good luck messages before I went down to theatre :)

We have a date but we haven't told anyone. My family (sister & parents) know the week that it's in. I figure we already know he's a boy so it would be nice to have some element of surprise when we annouce his arrival!

I'm having one on Friday and have told people just didn't see a reason why not. Not on Facebook or anything but if people are interested I tell them. I'm excited!

We've been vague, and just said the first week of December or thereabouts, much to the disgust of dp's sisters! The only person I've told is my mum, and that's only because she was having surgery last week and wanted something nice to focus on. She has been sworn to secrecy though.

I just want it to be as much like it would be if we were having a natural birth and want it to be a surprise when we email everyone to tell them the baby has arrived.

No-didn't want the pressure of people waiting for calls/texts.

No. DS1 was a vaginal birth, but induced. 3 days in labour. Constant texts from family and friends. Very annoying and unhelpful. DS2 was meant to be planned csection. Just told people not giving out date and just a vague end of x. DS2 had other ideas though and came flying out vaginally at 35 weeks!

Thanks all. It hadn't occurred to me that I might get bumped, so wouldn't necessarily get the booked date. It had occurred to me that I might end up with an EMCS earlier. Last time I had an induction that took 4 days and was 15 days late in the end, but didn't get harassed by text.

I think we will stick to just telling our parents as mine will be doing the childcare for DD and it seems only fair to tell DPIL too then.
