Another question about sweeps/Bishop's scores

Wasn't sure whether to post this in Pregnancy or Childbirth...

I'm currently 40+6. I had a sweep yesterday which wasn't successful - midwife said my cervix was shut tight and posterior. My Bishop's score was 2 due to my cervix being soft, but I scored 0 everywhere else.

My question is - I've been having a bit of brown spotting since, and am confused by it. If the cervix was tightly shut, the midwife probably didn't manage to get in there and touch the membranes, so I'm wondering where this blood is coming from? She wasn't especially heavy-handed I don't think, it was uncomfortable but tolerable.

Have got another sweep booked for Thursday and induction for Sunday/Monday but really hoping things start spontaneously, although with such a low Bishop's score I'm not holding my breath...

Funnily enough I just had my sweep and ended up on the phone to triage as I'm spotting quite heavily. MW at triage said even a slight knock to the cervix can cause bleeding. It might just be a touch of old blood from your sweep. Just keep an eye on it and fingers crossed things start moving in the right direction for you.

Thanks very much, think that answers it! :)
