First labour lasted forever.
Second labour was 5 hours start to finish.

Heleng1982 · 22/10/2014 21:00

This probably doesn't count as a long first labour 7 hours but my next labour was 6 hours and my third was 1 hour 41 mins . So my experience is my labours got quicker Smile

ladybird69 · 22/10/2014 21:21

First labour was 28 hrs as back to back presentation and 'dry' delivery hell but thankfully not a c-section, 2nd labour with mega huge boy was 3 hours and no tear! 3rd one hour, 4th 20 mins! Every single delivery is different tbh.

DraaaamaghAlpacaaaagh · 22/10/2014 21:23

First labour was 21 hours.
Second labour was 12 hours.
Third labour was 5 hours.

NoodieRoodie · 22/10/2014 21:26

1st - 33 hours from first contraction to baby, not very painful
2nd - 9 hours from "oh could that be a contraction" to baby and bloody painful!!

RobinSparkles · 22/10/2014 21:27

First labour was a million hours long. Well it felt like it!

Second labour was about 9 hours.

itiswhatitiswhatitis · 22/10/2014 21:27

1st labour 48 hours
2nd labour exactly 4 hours

PrincessWatermelon · 22/10/2014 21:29

First labour 24 hours and forceps delivery.
Second labour 6 hours from start to finish with 12 mins pushing (water birth).
Was v v happy!!

Mumoftwoyoungkids · 22/10/2014 21:30

1st labour 30 hours including 14 hours from when I arrived at the hospital @ 7cm before the called a halt and went for the C section.

Second labour 10 hours including 2 hours of "I think I'm in labour, no maybe not - I've not had a contraction for ages, oh no maybe I am, no, maybe not".

AtrociousCircumstance · 22/10/2014 21:31

My first was three days.

Second was seven hours!

WoohoohooandaBottleofBlood · 22/10/2014 21:33

Official lenghts of established labour per my notes:

DC1: 28 hours
DC2: 11 minutes

Yes, read that again, MINUTES

My first labour was 37 hours from my waters breaking to his ventouse delivery. My second labour was a slow build all day, I knew I needed to go to hospital around 7pm and DD was born at 3am. It should have been faster but she was back to back and born facing up. My second one, though still long was so much better.

Dasie · 22/10/2014 21:46

First labour after induction was 40 hours from first pain to delivery

Second labour 14 years later after induction was 2 hours 50 minutes from first pain to birth, it hurt a hell of a lot more Confused

VioletVelvet · 22/10/2014 22:05

30-odd hours induced first labour (14 hours from waters breaking)
Second labour was about five hours but recorded as two hours as that's when I'd got to hospital and confirmed as being in labour.

NotCitrus · 22/10/2014 22:10

I was told second labours are usually half as long as first ones. First was 38 hours, second 19 (both started naturally at 4am, second got to full dilation in a few hours rather than 24, then lots of ineffectual pushing and a ventouse in both cases - wish I'd put money betting against all the people who said you never have a ventouse twice...)

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 22/10/2014 22:18

Labour 1:- 24 hours from first contraction to delivery. Diamorphene, Syntocynon, Epidural and eventual episiotemy in theatre and forceps delivery

Labour 2 (today!!!! whooop!!!!):- contractions from 6am, in hospital at 8.30am 2cms, baby born at 10.22am Grin just G&A, tiny tear which didnt need stitches.

Amazing experience only made better by the hard time id had previously.

Waggamamma · 22/10/2014 22:36

First labour 48hrs from first twinge to delivery. 5cm to delivery was 8 hours. Diamorphine, gas and air and ventouse. 9lb baby.

Second labour from first twinge to delivery was 17 hours. 5cm to delivery 7 hours. Just gas and air, much easier labour. 9lb 5oz baby.

Norfolknway · 22/10/2014 22:45

labour 1 was 47 hr ish. long, but not unbearable. gas and air and diamorphine.
labour 2 was about 24 hrs from first twinge ( 45 mins in hospital as I held off that long!!)

madamginger · 22/10/2014 22:54

Dc1 15 hours, awful and painful and baby was an awkward presentation
Dc2 2.5 hours amazing birth at home
Dc3 6 hours back to back and hard work but OK.

39steppesmum · 22/10/2014 22:59

1st - 36 hours, back to back, 2 hours pushing

2nd - 3 ish hours, very straightforward, easy

3rd labour - 1.5 hours

weebairn · 23/10/2014 09:26

1st - long painful gruelling home birth, 30 hours from waters breaking to delivery. 6 lb 14 oz baby. No tears.

2nd - intense and powerful, 5 hours from 1st twinge, maybe 4 hours active labor. Water birth. 8 lb 9 oz baby. Small 2nd degree tear, no stitches.

I didn't believe 2nd labour could be as much shorter as they said, but it really was!! Such a great experience compared to the first.

weebairn · 23/10/2014 10:27

Thinkyou'vebeenhacked - congratulations!!! So happy for you. Your 2nd labour sounds a lot like mine!
