Hi, had a third degree tear over five weeks ago and the external scar has healed fine but i still have one internal stitch which i can feel under my skin. It hurts if i sit in certain positions and it catches. Does anyone have any experience of this? Will it dissolve?

I had a third degree tear last July with my DS and I found it very uncomfortable when the stitches were disolving. I was ok after for a couple of weeks then for the next 4 -5 weeks, it was really uncomfortable sitting and I had to Breast feed standing sometimes. I found that it was esp painful if I was in the same position for too long.

I also had problems afterwards with fisures (an have since) so I think that some of the pain was due to that (sorry if that TMI!)

Hope that you are feeling better soon.xxx

Have you had your post natal check with the doctor yet? (Don't know how it works where you are) My gp checked my stitches when I had mine, so I was reassured that everything was okay. One of my friends' stitches didn't dissolve but it was picked up on at her check and she had them taken out.
