Hi,
I had one 11 days ago and it was beautiful (much better than my first horrendous birth!)-the only thing they couldn't do was slow delivery of head as baby feet first! Check out the gentle cesarean video on YouTube and if it helps-here is my birth plan (sorry if not good format-on my phone!) and they did all of it!
â??A Gentle C-Sectionâ?? Â
The following is what we would like when our baby is born by caesarean section. We appreciate that sometimes things donâ??t go to plan but thank you in advance for reading this and in helping us to achieve the best possible birth for our baby. Â
Prior to birth:
· For UP to be cannulated in non-dominant hand/arm (left)
· For ECG leads to be away from chest area (to facilitate immediate skin to skin)
· For UPDH to be present during spinal administration Â
During Birth:
· For screens to be lowered when the baby is being born
· For UP and UPDH to see what sex the baby is for themselves
· Delayed cord clamping
· Immediate and prolonged skin to skin Â
Post Birth
· For baby to continue to have skin to skin during administration of IM vitamin K, checks and putting name bands on · For baby to be weighed when UP is transferred from operating bed to ward bed
· Skin to skin to continue in recovery to facilitate early breast feed
· When it is time, for baby to be dressed by UP or UPDH
· If possible for baby to have a â??clip onâ?? bedside cot when on postnatal ward Â
If things donâ??t go to plan.......
· If UP is unable to have skin to skin, for UPDH to have skin to skin with the baby until UP is able to do so
· If the baby requires admission to NICU, UPDH will stay with the baby until stable. The baby will not have any artificial milk or teats
Thank you!!
I was originally planning a HB so struggled to get my head around section at first but honestly loved it
all the midwives and consultanrs went the extra mile to fulfil our birth plan. good luck x
