Hi Everyone,
Have had to sign up under a new username, as my old one is with my work email address, can't remember the password, and am on maternity leave so can't access the reminder!
Anyway. I am really after some induction advice.

I am 39 years old, 12 days overdue, had the induction gel inserted 4 hours ago, so far am only getting totally ignorable period type pains. They're very keen to go ahead and break my waters after 9pm, even though the babies head is still high and my cervix is still posterior. Am guessing as my body is so keen to hang on to this baby, breaking the waters will definitely lead to the dreaded drip.
Has anyone had a happy outcome from this point, or should I just get an epidural and resign myself fora long, painful and intervention-filled labo
Thank you in advance.

Hi I was induced with the gel when I was 12 days overdue. I was given the gel at 12 lunch time and after 6pm nothing was happening no pain no niggles nothing . They gave me more gel at six . And I went for a walk about the hospital grounds . About 9 I started having period pains and my waters went .
But when midwife checked nothing was happening and they started talking about c sections because after 12 they couldn't give me anymore gel . Well it got to 11 and my contractions started hard and fast and I kept saying I wanted to push . Midwife told me not to because I wasn't dilating . She checked me at 12 and said yes your baby is there and rushed me round to labour ward and I had my baby 40 mins after I was told not to push . Hope that helps try to stay positive and it could all change I was so sure I would end up with a sectionSmile

Slightly different background to you but was induced with DC1 with similarly unfavourable indicators. I won't lie to you, I was mightly pleased to get an epidural, but the labour was then pain-free, fairly fast and no other interventions and resulted in a healthy baby, so I'd call it a happy outcome.

Flowers and hope all goes well for you too.

Are you allowed more gel? That would be my 1st question as i thought I'd read that you could have 3? If baby is quite happy, perhaps negotiate a bit more time before waters etc as it seems to start the clock ticking re infection risk etc. Go for a walk and try to take mind off it - that might help things? Good luck!
