Evening primrose oil

I'm now 39 weeks and looking at natural ways to get things going a bit.

I can't get through to my mw and just wanted to double, triple check that evening primrose oil is deemed OK by British midwives at the moment. Can't seem to find much recent UK guidance.

Is 1 pill inserted at night and 1 taken orally enough? Should I wait until 40 weeks? All help, guidance, stories appreciated.

I've seen on web take 2000mg in morning and 1000mg at night and insert 1000mg before bed to help ripen cervix Smile

I was told to insert a few 1000mg and wear a sanitary towel. I plan to try next week to encourage the process

Update: day 2 of using and my waters broke about 15 minutes after inserting 1000mg tablet. I'm now in hospital holding my beautiful little girl.

Now - I was 39weeks + 2 so who knows if labour would have kicked off naturally. Just thought I'd let you all know. Grin
