C Sectiion and wearing tampon

I had a C Section mid June this year and have healed very well. However have had two periods since then and find it quite painful inserting a tampon, like the opening to the vagina is more constricted. I'm currently having to use sanitary pads which I don't like wearing as much as they're bulky and have to be changed more often and wish I go back to tampons. Just wondering if internally I've not quite healed although wouldn't have thought it would have effected the area where the tampon goes. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks,

No offence but how is actual sex?

OiMissus · 07/10/2014 22:30

After my c section, sex was painful for quite a few months. (Another thing to put you off which you don't need after a baby!) So i'd give it a bit more time.
(I didn't have a period for about a year so have no tampon stories.)

Are you still bf? I found I suffered with vaginal dryness really badly while bf, and I wouldn't have been able to so tampons. Although my dryness improved a lit with the return of periods so ignore me for now!

After my cs, I couldn't wear tampons comfortably for years ... Sex was also uncomfortable. Felt all different down there! Give it some more time?

Just talk to your gp if it hasn't improved soon. I had a cervical smear after three months (post c section) and asked this very question. As it was emergency section then body retracted in as if if had been stretched- it took about five or six months to get back to normal. Very tight.

Thanks everyone. Not had sex yet, just too exhausted and DP been away a lot. Am sure it would hurt though & a bit worried about the whole issue. Yes, v dry down there also. Formula feeding now and have been since week 4. Wonder if using a lubricant might help?

Was it an emcs? I was very similar to you - the doctor said it was probably because my labour had progressed to such a stage that I had some of the damage you'd get from a vaginal birth too. It was probably 6 months or so before I felt normal down there.

I had the same and my doctor said it was hormonal due to bf. she gave me pessaries and a lubricant for sex which helped a bit but it took six months for things to get back to normal.
