Tues 2cms dilated producing a show now Thurs no sign of baby!

Hi everyone,
I'm now 8 days overdue, so on Tues I went for a sweep, the midwife told me I was 2cms dilated and it also produced a show, the midwife seemed excited and told me I would have my baby that night or early the next day. Well, it's now Thurs afternoon and still no sign and no aches or pains! Has anyone heard of this before as my midwife seems baffled as to why I haven't had my baby yet? sad

Hope it all starts for you very soon. when ds2 was 7days late my midwife did a sweep and discovered i was already 6cm dilated, she expected me to go into labour almost straight away but it was still 14hrs before my 1st contraction. Dont lose hope, it may still happen.

Some people do find though that sweeps dont work, maybe you should try some of the more 'natural' methods ie sex, curry etc and see if that helps speed things along.

It feels a bit like Christmas never comes at the moment. I've tried pineapple, raspberry leaf tabs, sex, curries, long walks, stair climbing, everything! I know baby will come when he/she wants to but finding it a bit frustrating now

yep - nine days after my sweep and subsequent show until arrival of baby!! sorry..but i had sweep at 38+ 6 or something, so i bet you won't have to wait much longer...try hot bath, hot sex & hot curry ....

I hate to tell you this but I had a sweep at 41 weeks with ds. That was the Friday. I was 2-3 cm dilated according to midwife who cheerfully told me she would deliver me the next day.

On Tuesday my waters broke, still no contractions. Was still 3 cm dilated.

Contractions started 36 hours later and he was born on Thursday.....

I had 2 sweeps when I was overdue with dd - on the first sweep I was told I was 2/3cms dilated, on the second I was 3cms dilated. I had a bit of a show but didnt go into labour. I ended up being induced a few days after the second sweep by having my waters broken and being put on the drip to stimulate contractions. Sweeps are not always successful and according to my midwife do not work as well for a first birth as they would for subsequent births.

Well, its all done now. We had a gorgeous boy...10 pound 5 ounces at 7.57pm on Sunday 01/10/06. Me, Baby and a very happy and proud Dad are fine. We had just finished a Sunday roast dinner and my waters broke. I knew there was something about my mother-in-laws cooking!!!

I perfect delivery with 'just' gas and air...no stitches or tears...though a bit sore today!!!
