Is it normal not to really bleed very much after birth?

4th baby, with the other three I bleed heavily for almost 6weeks. baby was born Tuesday morning, I obviously bleed Tuesday/wed, a little bit yesterday but today there is almost nothing.

Anyone else had this after bleeding for so long after previous births? should I be worried?

With dc2, I bled for a couple of days - and actually went swimming when he was a week old (my mother was horrified).

But when he was about a month old, I felt something move.... and passed a blood clot the size of a rather deflated football.

jeee was everything ok, did you have an infection? what did your dr say about passing such a large clot? and did the bleeding resume after passing the clot?

Everything was fine - I did bag up the clot and present it to the doctor the next day (which was a little Blush). But I had no other bleeding. Much better than my other three children where I bled for five to six weeks. I think that as long as you feel fine, aren't running a temperature, etc, it'll be fine.

Oh... when I presented the clot to the doctor he gloved up and poked around in it for a bit, looking for any remnants of the placenta, but decided it was just a blood clot.

ok, thanks, sounds like everythings fairly normal then, I wonder if it has anything to do with the fact I had 450ml EBL at delivery, perhaps there is consequently less to lose now.
