am I in labour?

I have just had a thick gooey mucus come away from me and been spotting all day, I'm not having period like spells of pain. I am 11 days overdue

The mucus plug can come away days before proper labour but mine was during labour with DD1 & I didn't notice it at all with DD2.

Labour will be painful contractions that progressively get longer and there are shorter breaks between pain. You'll be able to time them and expect them properly but this sounds like the early stages of things getting going.
