I am overdue and cant go anywhere as the fear of tempting fate and going into labour in the car/middle of supermarket is too annoying. very bored, but cant sit still and relax! Anyone else feel like this?

Oh how I feel your pain! Am 11 days over with DC2. Have had in laws here for 10 days now, on standby for when things start. Had a sweep in Monday and am 3cm dilated, lost plug yesterday but still no contractions. I just want to feel some pain now!

Have another appointment tomorrow and am trying to decide whether to go ahead and have waters broken or just have another sweep.

How many days overdue are you? Hope things kick off soon for us both.

petitverdot · 24/09/2014 13:28

I'm not even overdue yet but I feel your pain! Loads of people I know who were due after me have now had their babies, but mine wasn't even a bit engaged at 38+4. Still no signs of anything at 39+5 except a slightly dodgy tummy which has been going on for the last week! Grrr.

Kantha · 24/09/2014 13:37

Having got to +17 with DS1 I feel your pain. Thanks

I would be inclined to get out and do something. It is very unlikely that you are going to go into rapid labour in the supermarket or your waters go all over the car. Book a haircut, manicure, go swimming, go see a film one afternoon. I am due to have a baby in November and already have my next haircut booked for when I will be a few days overdue!

I would also consider getting an acupuncture appointment. Their inductions can be very effective!

Good luck.

I am only 4 days over now but it feels like an eternity! I can sympathise there too , I had the inlaws staying around my dd, they were hoping to be here 'to help' ha ha! I thought the stress of that would bring things on but mercifully not, cant think of anything worse that breastfeeding with mother and father in law gazing on!!

Sympathy all round Thanks Can I have some too pretty please??? Grin 9 days over here, just had second sweep today. Cervix is softening and moved to the correct spot which is all very good but apparently baby's head is still quite high. I've been on a massive walk today and doing squats on advice from my midwife. I'm so desperate to avoid induction if at all possible.......

lolalalabing · 25/09/2014 09:47

Yup, getting bored here too (41+2), not to mention feeling like a whale! Baby's head still not engaged properly and I just feel swollen.

Out of interest, for those of you who have been going on walks, what you do constitute as a long walk? My feet are pretty swollen now so I'm limited to flip flops Sad

TheFroglet · 25/09/2014 14:04

I constitute an hour or so of dog walking is a 'long' walk these days! Keep getting nettle stung from the flip flops though!
Sweep 1 has done nothing I dont think Booo :(

I was in your shoes on Sat. Sweep on a less than favourable cervix 12 noon.
12.50 pm baby had arrived! Shock

Hang in there you never know!

TheFroglet · 25/09/2014 15:17

Oh you lucky(!) thing, wow how quick! I was mentally all geared up for something to start or trigger something this morning, but not a jot has happened, dont think i can be bothered to have a baby anymore, feel like i may just stay pregnant forever... sigh!

Just re-read your post squizita, sorry thought it said 50mins later not 12hrs, it wasnt that quick was it! x

MintyChops · 25/09/2014 15:21

Ooooh, congrats squizita, that's fantastic!

I think walking for an hour with the dog is a long walk but the consultant I saw last week told me to walk 5-6km a day. Ha ha ha. He also told me to bounce on the Swiss ball for 3-4 hours a day. Double ha ha ha!

TheFroglet · 25/09/2014 15:47

What! not much time left over in the day for anything else then!

I either have to have this baby by midnight or not until Sunday. Well, if I want my husband to be there, which I do.

squizita · 25/09/2014 17:40

6 hrs Wink as far as I knew. I didn't realise it had worked for 6, thought I had a belly ache till it got critical!

MummytoMog · 26/09/2014 18:24

Damn waters have broken. Dammit. Husband other end of the country. Can't get here before two am ish. Then would have to leave by midday again. No contractions yet. What are my chances of not going into labour until about midnight tomorrow?

petitverdot · 26/09/2014 18:52

Exciting MummytoMog, if bad timing! Will you not need to go into hospital anyway before midnight tomorrow? Good luck!

MummytoMog · 26/09/2014 19:31

Yes - they let me go but I have to go back to be induced tomorrow at 3pm if nothing happens before then. So DH will come back tonight and get here about 2am and have to leave again at midday. Hopefully can do something before then. Having irregular, not terribly painful contractions. Although I am on the tube which probably isn't helping...

petitverdot · 26/09/2014 19:47

Fingers crossed baby cooperates and the timing is right! You're on the home stretch:)

MintyChops · 26/09/2014 22:41

Good luck MummytoMog, fingers crossed for you that your baby comes before DH has to go.

MummytoMog · 27/09/2014 00:23

At home still, contracting away and hoping to make it til DH gets home before I have to leave for hospital!

I'm over with DC2. Sweep on Thursday showed soft cervix but nothing since. BUT just walked up the moors with DS and DH and plug has now gone. Fingers crossed! And good luck to everyone else!
