I've just heard about meptid, a new-ish drug that's supposedly a bit like pethidine. I don't know anyone who's had this, so was wondering if anyone could tell me what it was like?
Thanks!

had metid available at both home births, used it with ds2. I was pushing a bit soon so just had it to chill me out ds2 born 20mins later. He wasn't sleepy at all, apgar score of 9 at 1min 10 at 5mins. I was still fully aware of everything it just relaxed me.
A bit sick about 20mins after he was born and felt sick in the bath but all in all good stuff

Not new -I had it 9 years ago! Don't think it actually helped with the pain, made me feel a bit "out of it" instead. Dd was very sleepy at the start but don't know that it was related to the meptid definitely.

Meptid was great first time round with me, but with DS2 I felt spaced out-I get sick in labour anyway. Had to get my own Meptid on prescription from my very kind doctor, then keep them and take them into hospital with me
