Anybody with a high posterior cervix not induced?

This is dc2, I was induced at 42 wks with dc1 and notes say 'high, posterior cervix' - they had trouble finding it several times! Never had a natural contraction or braxton hicks. So, I'm 39 wks with dc2 and the baby's head engaged is but no other labour signs. Anybody with a difficult cervix avoided a second induction or should I just resign myself? They think the induction was related to the PPH I had btw, but not sure how I can avoid it if things just don't start off. Baby already reckoned to be 7 lb 4 at 38 wks

Was just about to post as I am now 41+2 with DC2 (DD was 6 days late) and have an appointment this afternoon to discuss induction. Had a PPH of 2.5L with DD and have been doing some reading on risk of PPH with induction. Am very keep to avoid induction but not sure what alternative is.

The waiting seems do much harder the second time around doesn't it! DD not letting me get much rest and in-laws staying so am convinced that is delaying labour. Sorry for the moan. Hope things get started for you soon!

Hope you can avoid it - maybe a faster labour with 2, the obstetrician i saw thought that my uterine muscles were exhausted after long (44 hrs) induced labour - lots of contractions that didn't do much to my cervix, but like you I'm wondering how I can avoid it! just seems to be going the same way with no practice contractions etc.

Ps yes, I'm facing the prospect of an extended visit from my mum if I don't go into labour ontime, I love her dearly but we drive each other crackers after about 2 days!

I haven't had an induction - had elcs for dd and then vbac with ds on his due date - and I might be wrong but I think high and posterior is pretty normal until you're ready for labour? That's how mine was described anyway when I was checked on ds' due date in the afternoon. I'd been having contractions for a while and was so dispirited to be told my cervix was posterior and I wasn't in labour - but he was born 5 hours later! Every pregnancy and birth are different, hopefully things will happen sooner and quicker this time, good luck!

Not sure about pregnancy but a posterior cervix is a variation of normal, and I not infrequently have health care people struggling to find it! Well, fingers crossed it does happen naturally and goes faster this time!

Yes. And it was high posterior on the day of my borderline precipitous labour - with a first baby! Weak BH, induction booked ... had a sweep they told me wouldn't do much. In labour that night, only at birth centre an hour or so (after going in to be checked over and probs sent home...) and baby arrived.
I was as surprised as anyone!

FX it's the same for you ... minus the almost making the minicab driver help deliver!!

Thanks Squizita! Hope things are going well with your little one! first sweep on Tuesday at 40/3. It's such a mystery what makes things actually kick off.

I had a high posterior cervix at my 42 week appt. 14 hours later I had a baby in my arms! No induction needed. Good luck!

Also the mw couldn't even reach it to do a sweep. Hope is definitely not lost!
