I'm currently 40+11 with DC2. The MW initially wanted to book me in for an induction tomorrow as that's apparently their policy but I said I wanted to try getting to at least 42 weeks (which made her get very twitchy). She agreed to schedule me for my 3rd sweep tomorrow instead and said the MW who comes will talk to us about induction then (and probably want to be booking us in).
DC1 came at 39+4 so going this far over has taken us by surprise. There's not been any issues so far and DC2 seems fine on all checks. We were planning a home birth but was told they don't support HBs past 42 weeks.
DH and I have been talking a lot about our options if DC2 doesn't come soon. Neither of us really want to be induced, though the idea of getting to 43 weeks does scare me - I've looked at the stats for stillbirth and although it's only 0.2% that's still 2 in 1000 babies dying and stats don't help you that much if you happen to be 1 of those 2. That said, I also know inductions come with risks - both my DNs were induced and potentially suffered brain damage in the process, though they seem to be hitting their milestones and we think they're ok. It seems to me that there's a lot more likely for something to go wrong during an induction than waiting it out, but stillbirth is a much more final outcome should it go wrong iyswim. I'm trying not to get too stressed, but am really getting quite worried about it all.
I think we've settled on we'll get to 42 weeks, ask for extra monitoring, give DC2 a few extra days to be born and if s/he still doesn't make an appearance agree to an induction. I hope we're making the right decision by this (and that DC2 will come before 42 weeks anyway!)
Anyway, the reason why I really started this thread before I started babbling was because I wanted to know whether there is anything I should be asking the MW when she comes tomorrow to talk about induction? I'm worried we're going to be put under pressure to be induced sooner, or that they may say they can't/won't do checks before being induced. Expectant management was't mentioned as an option before so I don't really trust for her to cover all bases tomorrow either, ad would like to make sure I'm as prepared as possible.
