Clinical signs and symptoms of urinary retention includes bladder pain, dysuria, frequency and passing small amounts of urine, unable to void or hesitancy, palpable distended bladder. Are you suffering from any of these symptoms too?
If urinary retention is suspected, bladder scanning is done to assess the residual volume. Women who have a residual volume of more than 700 ml are more likely to require repeat catheterisation and prophylactic antibiotics may be warranted. Consult your gynac at earliest.
