Most audacious requests when you are at the point of labour!

Wanted to check if I am being unreasonable or if others are also taken aback by 'outrageous' requests/insensitivity by friends/family/strangers when you're at the point of giving birth ....

For example ...

My due date was yesterday. This is our firstborn. So DH's Army Pal already staying tonight and tomorrow ... (off to Iraq for 7 months, you know what may happen so you put aside your 'last chance for coupledom excitement afore you become a trio wishes and your fear of going into labour with an audience!) ... just about ok with that when BAM ... Pal's brother (not a friend of yours) calls and invites himself to stay also playing the 'last chance to see my brother' card ... and leaves you wondering if imminent arrival of firstborn is not actually as big a deal as you might think, and when did your apartment become a Hotel?

Reassure me ladies:

  1. That I am not being unreasonable cos am at the point of losing it and telling everyone to sod off!

  2. That this is pretty audacious!

  3. That it is normal for me to want to labour and bring firstborn home with DH ONLY!

  4. With your own tales of temerity

Thinking of checking myself into a Hotel for room service breakfast in bed, reading a good book and letting the rest of them get on with it ... or faking labour to clear the decks!

Grr
Am I being mean?

Make me laugh ...

Outrageous behaviour imo!!Can you not get your mum or siter or mate around to tell them to feck off if your dh is so bloody insensitive?

DH has just called Pal and said 'here's the details for some local hotels', obviously wife doesn't need an audience during labour .. .and has promised to have a word to stop this happening again ...

Feel bad that we are esentially forced to be 'the baddies' tho ...!

Please don't worry about what others think, believe me you will have to worry about in the near future. Relax and try to enjoy the last few days of solitude.
