Russells Hall Hospital or Birmingham Women's

Anyone given birth there recently? I have been looking at reviews online, but cant really find any recent ones. Have been given the choice of there or Birmingham Women's and Russells Hall is a wee bit closer, but wonder if there is anything else to sway my decision?

My sister is an obs and gynae doctor and worked at both (she does c sections and assisted deliveries)

She says good things about Russell's Hall and thoroughly enjoyed her time there. She said yes Women's is good, but is very large and can be conveyor belt like and the post natal wars is rammed to the rafters!!!

However, should you or your little one require specialist care, it's very good and worth sticking with.

However should you have an emergency and need an ambulance then you will have no choice and be taken straight to Russell's Hall.

I'm pregnant with my first and currenly under consultant care at Women's - however we are moving soon and Heartlands will be our nearest, but as I'm under consultant care I'm sticking with women's.

Hope that helps, both hospitals are very good so may be no need to go further to Women's

I gave birth at Russell's Hall a few weeks ago and it was great! I had a very easy birth though so was in and out. It's very secure too x

Hi, I chose BWH and was very impressed. Had a very difficult labour and they were brilliant, even when under emergency conditions. Stayed for 5 nights and my care was excellent. Offered an outpatients debrief which was helpful too. Supportive about consultant led care next time. Highly recommend.

I had an ELCS at BWH in 2012. I agree that it is large and the PN ward was busy. However, I loved every second and had a wholly positive experience and felt extremely well cared for; I knew we were in safe hands. I would choose to go there again.

No experience of Russell Hall.

Hmmm, definitely have a decision to make now.

I meant to say in my post that every single midwife I encountered there was wonderful. I was treated with dignity from my booking appointment to the birth; particualrly so post-natally
