Waters breaking, help!

I am 38+4, have had a show and on/off period pains and back ache for a few days now.
Head was 3/5 engaged last Friday.

Went to bed last night, got woken up at at 1.30 by the bastarding heartburn, went for the gaviscon, lifted my leg and whoosh, what I assumed to be waters went (all over the clean bedding which was handy)
So immediately after needed a wee, had a wee, came back and smelt everything that "waters" had gone on. Did not smell like wee. At all. So panic mode set in.
Called hospital, midwife advised to go in so they can check me out. So in the car at 2.15 am, sent home at 4am as it's not waters.

Did I really just wee myself?? I'm certain it was waters just because if I had wee'd all over the bed surely it would you know, smell like wee!?
I have had a pad on since, should it be soaked through?

Could have been some of the hind water rather than the fore water (could be a small leak behind the babies body rather than the water in front of the head). That's what happened with mine and I was going to be sent away again but then my contractions started so I had to stay.

Have googled this, it sounds like that could have happened. I was so sure I hadn't just wee'd!
Google has said they could leak then close back up after so midwife potentially couldn't tell if anything had happened.
All bedding now in the wash and old towels on bed just in case Confused
