mears · 16/09/2006 21:25

I don't know what DTD is either!

Beabea · 16/09/2006 21:25

Mears - we've been in the business too long LOL
If you are ready to go it may well work... and it can be fun
We did suggest it to calvmejoe last night -she said she did it but she is still around today!

mears · 16/09/2006 21:30

You might find you need to do it more than once

pupuce · 16/09/2006 21:31

Mears - why is it that we are talking sex every night now
I think men should pay us a commisson!

Beabea · 16/09/2006 21:33

Not sure I want to do it more than the once.

Pupuce - what sex talk have you been having and what men are reading to pay you? Just curious.

lol I'll answer the question, on both occasions, Thur night, labour started 2am Saturday morning twice!! two bouncing dd's to show for it

Beabea · 16/09/2006 21:46

Frizbe - I guess they could have come without dtd. Its something we will never know. Quite a coincidence for u though.

Pupuce and I were encouraging another mumsnetter to have sex to get labour going - calvinjoe.

The men she is referring to are your partners

Beabea · 16/09/2006 21:50

Mears - Ahh I see.

calvemjoe I meant to say

Olihan · 16/09/2006 22:00

Tried it with both of mine and didn't have any effect at all I'm afraid to say. My mw did say you needed to do it at least a couple of times a days for a few days to get a decent amount of prostaglandins up 'there' but even dh shuddered at the thought!!!

Beabea · 16/09/2006 22:02

Thanks Olihan - I won't lay awake tonight then wondering if its going to happen.

Hmmmm...aparently ingesting (i.e swallowing) sperm is much more effective...sorry to be so gross!

Olihan · 16/09/2006 22:19

3andnomore, I've been told that too. Dh thought it was a great idea but I wasn't desperate enough even at 12 days over!!! Bleurgh.

Must be a certain amount of truth in it though, because some places give you oral prostaglandins for inductions.

Beabea, how late are you?

sallyrosie · 17/09/2006 07:08

I've been pestering DH almost daily for past 2 weeks and not seeing any signs of labour yet...am only 38 weeks though!
Never thought I'd see the day he'd complain about too much sex
No way will I get desperate enough to...y'know... in fact just the thought makes me feel quite ill!

Beabea · 17/09/2006 18:30

Im not overdue just impatient at 39+4weeks. Im having a homebirth so don't want to get as far as being induced. I have some times during the day where I get strong regular and almost painful braxton hicks. Other times there is nothing or the little man is moving around lots.
