How long did your stitches take to heal.

I had an episiotomy 12 days ago. I thought I was getting better but the last day it 2 have been really sore again. Really want to get out and enjoy my new dd but every time I try it ends in tears (mine)

Mine got tighter as everything healed. The MW cut them in the end though I have to say that was more painful than giving birth. Sorry.

Mine got worse around then too, it all got tighter and more painful and in all I think it was about 4-6 weeks for mine to heal.

I'm so sorry! Do you have good painkillers? Take them regularly so they can build up in your system.

Cool.gel packs are great to ease the pain. I think mothercare sell them. You can leave it in and walk around. But don't push yourself either, too much exertion can delay recovery too, so take it one day at a time :)

these are the ones. If you buy tubifast bandage from the pharmacy it's much cheaper for the covers too, just cut to size :o

Mine took 6 weeks to heal properly.

It took three weeks before I could walk any distance. I found it really frustrating so I sympathise.

I had mine taken out both times after a week. The midwife who offered to do it with my first said that they can catch and pull as you walk and move. This also keeps the tiny wounds around the stitch open and stingy.

The second time I made an appointment with the GP to have them taken out, I limped in and I skipped out, the difference was that dramatic.

It was painful, but just for a second with each stitch. And I had a lovely new baby to cuddle, focus on and distract me each time.

I'm afraid I had a long recovery too, and the gp had to remove the stitches. I had an infection at one point and had antibiotics, plus strong painkillers plus salt baths twice a day. I turned to arnica in the end which was a turning point where the pain was concerned, but it still took around 12 weeks for the wound to fully heal.

If I remember they get worse before better.. around 1-2 weeks then they dissolve and the healing gets quicker.
